Midnight's Song

MIDNIGHT'S SONG

Forever greets me at the door
Who could ever ask for more?
My cat, my friend, my beautiful boy
My heart, my furry pride and joy

Sent to me from Heaven above,
to fill my life with your sweet love
You give so much and ask for naught
Except our love for which you 've sought

Loving soul whose always there
Who likes to follow me everywhere
Precious feline, one of a kind
Another of whom I shall never find

~ Lady Caer Morganna

The Calico Cat

The Calico Cat
She sleeps in the sunlight,
Her warm coat shines soft;
Purring ever so loudly
Underneath her catio loft

“You’re home! You’re home!”
She excitedly spouts;
As I walk through the door
“Let me in!” she shouts

Now sitting on my chair
All curled up on my lap;
Is that calico cat
And for hours she sat

~ Lady Caer Morganna

(This poem is dedicated to my "pretty little girl", Miss Haley Lynn - Haley was short for Halloween because she had the seasonal coat colors)

Our "Catio"

So, what exactly is a "catio"? Well, for those who have never heard of this term before, it is a patio specifically designed for and dedicated to our beloved kitties.

Here are a few pics of our catio, which actually used to be our enclosed porch ...

New cat curtains!

P.A.W.S. Special Benefit Dinner

This year, we decided to take my mom and MIL out for a sort of belated Mother's Day dinner. They both received flowers last Sunday, but we took them out today for a special Spaghetti Dinner held by the Pottstown Animal Wellness Services (P.A.W.S.) at The VFW in Sinking Spring, PA. This particular event was to raise money in order to benefit neutering/spaying cats.

My husband and MIL.

The dinner was delicious and included specially decorated white cupcakes that looked like spaghetti and meatballs!

Posing with my mom.

We all received one of these cool bracelets, too! ...

Blog Giveaway Update

Greetings everyone and welcome to another Monday! My sincere apologies for taking so long to follow up on my blog giveaway, but finally here it is. Truth be told, one of the reasons that it took me so long is because I wanted to add one more item to my giveaway.

Giveaway prize one.

And now ,,,
Giveaway prize two! This picture of it does NOT do it justice as it is too dark to show the handmade details, but I bought this little beauty from a vendor a few years ago at one of our local craft faires and the woman whom I bought it from called it, "Cat with no Face". The tail is made out of a pretty black braid which you can not see very well here in my photo of it.

The drawing for these items will be on Saturday, May 14th. If anyone who has already shown an interest has a preference of which cat they would like to win, please let me know by leaving me a comment to this post. THANK YOU!

No, seriously, Domestic Rats ...

It has been my experience that not very many people know (or are even educated at all on the subject for that matter) that domestic rats make great pets! They are generally friendly, very clean, and extremely intelligent! They are even capable of being trained.

Many years ago, long before I met my hubby, an ex-boyfriend of mine had brought home a black and white domestic rat from the local pet store which he named, "Daisy." Never being exposed to any other critters other than dogs, cats and rabbits, my very first thought was, "What? You brought home a sewer rat? UGH!"

But it did not take me very long to realize that these guys are NOT "sewer rats" at all. They, in fact, make very cool pets indeed! Daisy was super friendly and very smart as well. She was so well-behaved that all we had to do is open up the cover to her huge tank and she would simply walk on to the palm of our hands, never nipping or biting. Believe it or not, even the cats accepted her. Hard to believe? Well, it was no more harder to believe for me than our cats getting along with our bunny Sam! ;o)

 I have found a great article on the ASPCA's website which I have included here in this post ...
